We created Restasy because of our own battles with insomnia and stress. Aside from prescription medications, weighted blankets have had the greatest impact on finding relief, and an escape from those dreaded pills. Restasy was created to help others discover this and other natural and healthy options for managing stress and getting quality sleep.

Nobody likes counting sheep...except maybe shepherds

“We spend about one-third of our life either sleeping or attempting to do so” Let that quote from the Handbook of Clinical Neurology sink in for a second. We’ve all probably heard that we spend about 1/3 of our lives sleeping, but that’s not exactly true for those who suffer from insomnia or other sleep disorders.

If you’re going to spend that much of your life in bed, wouldn’t you rather use that full time to actually sleep and reap the benefits of sleep and full rest for your mind and body?

Isn’t it just a heavy blanket? Sort of, yes. And that’s what is so remarkable about it.

The extra weight in a weighted blanket provides a gentle pressure across your entire body. This sensation reaches your brain and triggers responses in your nervous system as if you are receiving an embracing hug.

In scientific terms, your brain tells your endocrine system to increase serotonin (the happy hormone) and decrease cortisol (the stress hormone). This leads to a naturally lower stress and anxiety level. Serotonin is the precursor to melatonin (the sleep hormone), meaning you’ll be able to fall asleep while alleviating stress.
